Also known as dome head, fender head, safety head, mushroom head bolts
and economy bolts in the Pacific NW; Timber bolts are used largely in marine
and wood applications.
The head of a timber bolt is rounded, bulky and low profile while there are two
fins or nubs towards the base of its head. These nubs ascertain that the bolt
does not, at any point, turn in the timber. Besides, the bulky head helps cut
out on cost because it eliminates the need for a possible malleable iron
washer.
