Carriage bolts come with a round head and a square neck. These are largely used in wood connections. The neck’s square shape aids in placing the round head well into the wood hole, thus preventing bolt head from turning. Carriage bolts do not usually show high strength mainly because they are largely used with wood. And, they are often delivered under the standard specification ASTM A307.
